Wedding Day

Well we did it.
on September 8th we were married at RoundTop Mountain resort and it was great. Minus the isolated tornadoes and crazy rain we experienced that day. I think my friend from Buffalo said it best the morning of the wedding.... "They are calling for isolated Tornadoes not to mention they just said today is the anniversary of some crazy flooding you guys had last year. It's going to be an interesting day".
And. It. WAS.

I had a few bridezilla moments which involved breaking my Mrs. Miller hanger and ripping my dress while getting ready. I think I only slightly traumatized my friends. Oh and I threaten to cut my 11 year old cousin from the wedding. It was an intense day. No sooner did we get into the bridal room........in a different building then the ceremony was taking place in.........it started to pour. It was a blinding rain! But we had a great day all in all. Below are a few pics from that day.

18 days and counting

Finally ordered our flowers. From Sam's club......i know right. SAM'S CLUB. and they were crazy affordable so Cross your fingers that they are crazy AWESOME.

Now all I need is my trail run for my hair......I forgot about that. I chalk it up to my strong dislike for girly crappy. But I wasn't thinking and the next two weeks my schedule is completely jacked up because of work. So I have literally 3 days I can do it. Cross your fingers on that for me also. LOL.

I should have taken a wedding 101 class or something so I would know what I'm doing.

nice way to spend the day

Yesterday we went to Knobles amusement park. I had never been before and we ended up having a very nice time. The fiance, his son, myself and my brother and his family and his brother and his family all went. The little ones weren't so keen on the rides. Last year Sarah loved Hershey park......this year she wasn't so thrilled. Could have been the 2 hour ride there. Could have been the heat. Could have been she was confined to her stroller.

But we had some fun. I rode a roller coaster with the boys that made me pray for my life. But all in all everyone had a nice time.

1 month

WE just hit the one month mark. 1 month till we become Mister and Mrs.
1 MONTH.

I had my first dress fitting last Friday and my dress is...........more awesome then I even remembered. I LOVE my dress. So PRETTY! However I'm afraid I'll need a very detailed MAP of how to put it on at the wedding. The lady was mentioning hocks and snaps and loops and that was just for the bottom. HMMMM. I'm not a dress girl. I'm not a make up girl. I'm not a hair girl. I'm a Jeans. T-shirt. and Flops kind of girl. So I nixed the head piece my mom tried to "talk" me into....which wasn't as much of a talk as an "I'm getting you this, you need this for the wedding." NO. No I didn't.

And don't get me started on the over priced mosquito netting she insisted on buying. I borrowed a very simple and nice veil from my friend. It was my something borrowed, I don't even like veils.......BUT mom says "it's white it wont match your Ivory dress". So she buys me a new one....And at the fitting says......"you're dress looks white I don't think your new veil is going to match" YAAAAHHHHH. My friends are asking me about nail appointments and how I'm wearing my make up. It was hilarious the collective gasp i got when i told my bridesmaids i wasn't getting my nails done. Apparently that's a must. Something about hand pictures. WTF.

I meant with our photographer, who works with me, yesterday and now I'm really excited about the wedding and getting our pictures done. We came up with some fun and funny photo ideas. Not stuff everyone standing in a line photos for me. I'm a hair down heels up kind of girl. I'm looking to have FUN.

So I still new my something borrowed and something old. I'm using an old dress shirt of my dad's for my something blue. My plan is to use stripes of it to wrap my bouquet in. He looked pearl snap button shirts so I'm hoping to use the snaps on the wrap as well. I need to start making that. And my something new is a necklace my mom insisted on buying me.

1 MONTH!

confessions from the dead desk

So Mama Kat's one prompt hit me HARD.

4.) You’ve been offered a book deal! Now what are you going to write about?

Easy smeasy. I'm writing about my job. It's never a dull day at the Obituary Desk.

There's just something about death that makes people get all.......CRAZY. It's been my privilege over the last 5 years to deal with all levels of crazy here at the dead desk.

Before everyone gets all "oh have some compassion for these poor people in their hour of need".......come work here. We'll see how compassionate you are after a full moon week.

There was an obit once that said
  1. He was a member of AA (...........kind of defeats the whole anonymous part.)
  2. She really enjoyed her cell phone.
  3. She was a mean hearted person to her children and in-laws.
  4. She made the Worldest best apple pie. (PROVE IT GRANDMA!!!)
I could talk about the women who called ranting about an obit for a gentleman who she was and I quote "Happy he finally kicked the can cause he was a real son of a bitch"

I could talk about the family feuds. I can't count on one hand the number of times that  we have run multiple obits for the same person placed by separate family members because they can't all agree who should be listed as children and who should be listed as step children. And EVERYONE thinks we care to hear their side of the story...WE DON'T.

If I had a dollar everytime someone called in to give me payments and asked if I needed ALL the number on the credit card........nahh just give me 4 and I'll just pick some and see what happens!

I could talk about the number of times I've run obits that lists and ex spouse, current spouse, and a companion......really People. Really?

People tell us all kinds of things. Last week a gentleman told me his dog shit all over his wife in bed...and then the dog died.

What in the world. Sometimes I really think I'm living a real life version of the Truman Show becasue this life can't be real.

Progress

So I've made some progress on the wedding front.

Last Friday I found a pair of shoes for ........wait for it........$12. Yup! and they are very cute with a nice chunky heal so I'm taller! And will most likely not fall down and break my face in them so that's a huge plus.

All the invitations are done, stuffed, stamped and the labels are being printed....momentarily, once Mister Snarky finishes his stuff. I had to buy stamps today, holy cow! $54 for stamps. My invites only cost $75 lol.
The programs are about 90% done.

We have an OFFICIANT which is always helpful if want things to be "legal".

I made hair appointments for the day of for myself and the four wonderful bridesmaids....Jessica and Rebecca are 10 they aren't getting up dos. but i did but them cute headbands with yellow flowers for in their hair. That's enough for them.

The guys are tentatively doing their tux fittings tomorrow.

Mom and I have plans for this coming Friday to go dress shopping for her. That. Should. Be. Fun.........and by fun i mean a freaking  NIGHTMARE! But I'm going to try and remember count to 10 then knock her over the head when she gets on my nerves........wait, that doesn't sound like the advice the doctor gave me for dealing with my anger.

And I've finally decided what to do about who's walking me down. So that's DONE.

the rest of the things I ordered came in the mail this week. It was like Christmas up in here. I could get used to that....maybe everyone could just start sending me free stuff cause I'm kind of tired of paying for things. The memoriam candle holders I ordered for his parents and my dad came. I was so excited until i noticed the box with my dad's had his name written on the box and it was spelled wrong......... I saw red. Pretty sure it was red. I didn't know what to think. i started opening and unwrapping the holder and was relieved to see that his name was indeed spelled correctly where it mattered. Oh thank god. Cause the people at The Wedding Outlet were about to get one very unhappy call from me.

Still lots to do........56 days to go

7 sucky things about being an adult

  1. No one to cook me dinner. While I enjoy eating ice cream for dinner sometimes (like an good adult should). Sometimes I just want some good old fashion down home dinners......like mom made. So I've been working very hard to train trick my soon to be hubby into making dinner all the time.
  2. Work blows. Man oh Man give me a lunch box and some gym shorts and send me back to school. What were we thinking! School is where it's at. this working 8 hours a day for a few dollars is highly overrated. I mean really........where mom and dad's rules so absurd we had to hurry up and grow up so we could move out. I would KILL at counting and coloring if i could go back to school.
  3. Sure I can throw my socks all over the floor and leave wrappers on the table, cause I'm an adult and I don't have to CLEAN UP. but the downfall to that plan is that if you live in filth NO ONE is going to want to come over and then you will be forced to CLEAN a whole bunch of crap up to get your social life back on track. So we really must clean, and not just some laundry people. Dusting. Vacuuming. Dishes. blah blah blah
  4. At some point you will get to the point in your life where you MUST sniff a kids butt to figure out if he pooped. It'll be a bright spot in your day.
  5. Punishment is much worse when you're an adult. Apparently we are "supposed to know better", so when we mess up it's hard to come back from. Oh you broke moms vase, that's OK she cleans it up and maybe you get grounded. Fast forward to Oh missed the alarm over slept and your car broke down on the way to work...AGAIN. You're Fired.
  6. Bills Bills Bills. And I don't mean the football team. Life was easier when my only bill was the money I owed the lunch lady. Rent, electric, water and sewer (really), car payments, insurance....it just keeps going! And they seem to be a stickler for being on time these days. If i didn't pay the lunch lady she wrote my name on a slip and we paid the next day........If i don't pay my car payment, my car gets repoed and I'm not lucky enough to end up on the show Repo Games, so that car is gone. I would KILL at the show!
  7. Sooner or later.......if you're lucky you are responisble for caring for and shaping the next generation. And I cna't think of a more pressure filled job than that!
Go see Mama Kat!

feelings of blah

I've been a mess a lately. and Not a hot mess. just a pure honest to goodness mess.

It's just been a one of those days months. Yes months. I'm miserable all around......and I'm not sure why.

I should be on top of the world. but I've been acting like a world class B*tch.

I don't know if it's just the stress of wedding stuff, work, or just a bad attitude.

is this crunch time????

Today at 3 p.m. we will be 63 days away from WEDDING DAY.

We've accomplished a lot of things but at the same time we have SO MUCH to do.

I was reminded by my BFF/ maid of honor that this is crunch time. Sunday will be the 2 month mark.

2 months. oh man. I should have done things a bit differently. Like made a game plan from the get go. But I didn't.

This is what I gathered from our conversation last night. I need to do the following
  1. Get bra and slip
  2. pick a hair style
  3. make dress appointment so i can get my alterations started.
  4. send out invites (would be going out today  but I'm still waiting for one last detail)
  5. buy shoes
  6. guys need to go for their tux fittings
  7. Finish centerpieces thankfully I unloaded my maid of honor is helping with that
  8. Figure out who will be walking me down
#8 has been a thorn in my side since Jeremy uttered the words "will you marry me". Conversations with my mom have consisted of "Have you decided yet" "What are you going to do" "You aren't replacing your dad" "You need to figure it out, you don't have much time" "If it's not your brother you need to give the person time to get a tux" "I told the minster you need to talk about this" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Last night my BFF/maid of honor said "Have you decide who's going to walk you down yet, cause it's crunch time Amy"

My answer every time is I'm not concerned about it. Not because it's to hard for me to deal with....don't get me wrong it breaks my heart that my dad isn't here, but since he can't do it I don't really care. i don't have a strong feeling towards who i want to do it. My brother is already in the wedding so he can do it. my uncle is the only other person I would consider asking but honestly it doesn't matter to me anymore. No one can replace my Dad, so I don't care who does it. I love my brother and my uncle so either would be great for me. But I don't have a preference. So i wish they would just figure it out on their own.

Other stuff we need to do
  1. Buy candy, bags and containers for the candy bar.
  2. Take Scott to pick out the sand we need for the sand ceremony.
  3. find a hair dresser.
  4. go shopping with mom for her dress
  5. put together favor type things
  6. order flowers
  7. get grooms gift
  8. grooms cake
  9. SHIT!!!!!! That's a lot of stuff

My Top 6

I picked the easy peasy topic today

The 6 best things about being an ADULT.

Hmmm...... adult suddenly sounds to grown up a word to describe myself.......but a las at 30 I'm pretty much past the "social acceptable" age to be a KID.

So my top 6 things about being an adult are (drum roll please) bbabdabhaahhadhadhammm

6. I can watch rated R movies......without needing to be accompanied to the theater.

5. I wont hear any lectures that start out "As long as you live in my house......" until further down the road when I'm USING it to brow beat my children into compliance.

4. I never liked cleaning my room anyway. Thank goodness that's a thing of the past.

3.You wont believe the weird stuff that's on tv at 4 a.m.

2. Sometimes after a long hard day it's nice to kick back, put my feet up on the table and sip on a nice cold beer...........some how an apple juice box just never did the trick for me.

And the #1 thing about being an adult..........as told to me one evening by my 9 year old cousin......brace yourself.

1. "You mean to tell me you can have ice cream for dinner and hash browns for desert and it's ok......You don't even have to ask your mom???!!!"

That's right I don't even have to ask my mom........you should have saw her poor young face when i said "Yup, and I can stay home....all by myself and do whatever I want!"

It was almost earth shattering for her!

So swing over and see what everyone else at Mama Kat's page.

Time is ticking down

WOW 77 days!

77 DAYS!

77 DAYS!!!!!

When did that happen. I have soooooo much to do. SO MUCH.

Things to do yet
  1. Buy wedding shoes
  2. schedule first dress fit (way behind on that)
  3. Get officiant ASAP
  4. Finish putting programs together
  5. Meet with photographer (thankfully she works with me so we get to talk whenever)
  6. Order Flowers
  7. Figure out center pieces and get on that for sure
  8. Figure out ceremony decorations

AHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Deep breaths, deep breaths, OK count slower from 10.. 10, 9, 8, 7..........77 days to go AHHH.

My cake server came today in the mail. I order a gift for my mom and the flower girls and picked up a few things online for the reception. I'm going ot give myself a good freak out.....I'm checking the "to do list" in my weddings binder!

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Step right up....pick a cake......any cake! No really PLEASE!

So we have our meeting this Saturday with the nice people at the venue for our wedding. We need to give them our food choices, alcohol choices...etc.

So we picked out what we wanted. Well most of what we wanted. My wonderful soon to be husband likes one style of cake and I like a different style. We know we aren't using fondant. while it looks pretty it's not really that great. So butter cream ALL the way for us. We know the flavors we want so it's just the style and design. Here are the two we are down to at the moment.

Option 1
His pick. I don't know why but he's been talking about the whole ribbon the cake style right from Jump Street. Yeah it's nice (remember butter cream icing not this fake smooth fondant) We wouldn't use the pearls. but the flowers on the side could stay and we have a cool topper. it's OK, but I've seen these EVERYWHERE lately.

Option 2

My choice. I think it's very pretty and different. I'm not dumb i realize this one would be SUPER easy to mess up and it could be a disaster but it's still so COOL.

Apparently I'm the only one in the WORLD because everyone else likes option 1. grrr.

Might have to rock, paper, scissor it on Saturday.

Father's Day

So after Jeremy informed me his son said I had something planned for Father's Day (NEWS TO ME) I figured I better plan something. so I did.

First we went to see an IMAX movie. Born to be FREE in 3D and it was AMAZING. It was a doc about 2 different women, one in Africa and one in Asia that rescued animals that were orphaned. The 3D was AMAZING.

Then we walked across to City Island (Harrisburg) and rode the Pride of the Susquehanna. I got us all tickets for the Pirate cruise. There's pizza, soda, ice cream and WATER BATTLES. With Pirates.

Jeremy and Scott

Scott and I

The pirates came in their boat and the fight was on. Water balloons, and water guns, hoses and buckets of water where all part of the battle. I watched from the upstairs....but even i wasn't safe. I took a splatter to the left hip. It was a good time.

The pirates best defense was their motor which they used to spray water on everyone.

They guys were soaked!!! and we had a long walk back over the bridge to the car in wet clothes.

All in all I think it was a pretty good day. And I'm pretty proud with my first attempt to plan a fun Father's Day for Jeremy and Scott.

One time my Dad told me........

I picked ~~Share a lesson you learned from your Dad.

I don't know if it's so much a lesson as a funny story involving my Dad.
When I turned 16 I was PUMPED to be able to drive. I got my learners permit on my first second try and for the next 30 days I drove my Mom EVERYWHERE. My Mom did most of the teaching when it came to driving.....but I remember one time when I talked my Dad in to letting me drive him around. He wasn't too sure about it but he agreed and we set off in my Mom's GEO TRACKER (awesome right!). We drove on mostly back roads, all roads I was very familiar with and roads my Dad thought wouldn't be to crowded. Everything was going very well. Then as I headed down the one side road.....it happen. I was going probably around 40 mph...I should have slowed down. But I had relaxed (that wasn't always an easy thing to do with my Dad) and i wasn't on RED ALERT.

See my Dad was a truck driver. He drove an 18 wheeler from the time he was in his 20's until he passed away at 61. He knew more about driving then I could ever hope to know and he wasn't always gentle when telling you how you MESSED up. So driving with him could be a bit tense. No one wants to let their parent down, right.
So At about 40 mph I hit the worst uneven railroad tracks around. BAMN BOOM BANG BAMN!!! The whole Tracker was shaking, bouncing and my dad and I were jostled all over. On the other side of the trackers I staredt to brace myself for the discussion YELLING. But to my surprise my Dad simply looked at me and then looked straight ahead and said, "Well, I think you might want to slow down next time."
And.
THAT.
Was That.
Needless to say I've never made that mistake on those tracks again....or any railroad crossings.

Check out what the other students are doing over at Mama Kat's

Another one bites the dust

I stayed home today. My head has been pounding all morning DAY and doesn't appear to be letting up. But i figured as long as I was home I should try to accomplish something on my mile long wedding list. So I did. I finished assembling our invites. Now I was the leading force behind ORDERING invites. the soon to be hubby wanted to print them ourselves. But I said  "I don't want to worry about printing them straight and making sure they don't smear. So I found some on ETSY that we liked and ordered them. Not to be fair it did say SOME ASSEMBLY required. But I didn't realize how much SOME really was until they showed up at my door.

In this photo you will see three different black and white pieces .........well it came in 6 separate pieces. This picture shows each of the sections put together. YEAH some assembly required.

The final product. All 6 pieces assembled to make one invitation. COMPLETE ASSEMBLY REQUIRED.

But hey, it's one more thing to cross off my list.

Sunday, June 10, 2012

Check that off!

My mom bought me a wedding planner for Christmas. Not the person. That would be illegal in most places. She bought me the binder with all the different information and pictures, and questions to ask. Actually I received TWO wedding planners for Christmas....SHHHH don't tell my mom. The one mom got had really great stuff and the one Taylor got me had really great other stuff. So I combined them into one MEGA Planner. I've used...mostly when we were just getting started. It was a great source of information when looking at venues. I had know idea what questions to ask....aside from "how much does it cost". I used the flower guide to look at the pretty pretty flowers. And the the pockets to put things i ripped out of bridal magazines (FYI I bought 3 magazines during this whole time...all the first week after getting engaged. I'm not a CRAZY bride). It had great ideas for ceremony decorations and lining my unruly group up.

But I haven't opened my MEGA planner in MONTHS. Mainly because......there is a section where it lists all the things you should do in your time frame.

8 months- Hire your Calligrapher. WHAT? Do people still do that?

Well I'm afraid of that section. It's very overwhelming when you look at it. I'm at the 3 month mark. and I've done........NOTHING.

Not true. We have a place, a dress, bridesmaid dresses, partial centerpieces, half put together invites, ALL the wedding party gifts, favors, seating chart IDEA, card box, wedding topper, sandy vases but no sand, and a TON of ideas.

But now I can check cake server off the list. I wasn't going to buy one. I thought realistically we will NEVER use this again but after being bullied talked into the need for it, I bought one today. I wanted mine to be different and i wasn't excited by any i saw at the stores. Most looked cheap (but weren't) or tacky. So i opted for this.
It'll have our names (not Nicole and Andrew LOL) and our date. I loved the pattern on the cake server. I saw a few on ETSY that were hand stamped on vintage so I feel like this gets that look and is more affordable for me. I'm happy with this.

Quiet down in there voices!

AHH. Wedding. Wedding. Wedding!

That's all I can think about lately. how to decorate, what are we doing about flowers, how much beer do we REALLY need (and if you know my friends it's A LOT), how will I do my hair, and what about make-up (yuck). It just doesn't end.

I feel safe saying I'm not a bridezilla. Not at all. I'm not freaking out about having JUST the right stuff. Case in point. My center pieces. I found wooden vases on clearance at Michael's, they were exactly what I wanted. But they only 3 small ones. They had a bunch that were slightly larger. I'll admit I was a bit annoyed, they would have been perfect! Jeremy asked the people at the store and they said we could go to Lancaster (45 mins East) they had 4 more and then Camp Hill (40 minutes North) for another 4 and that would do it for us. I said NO WAY! I'm not driving all over to get wooden vases. However Jeremy talked me into it the next day so we went to Camp Hill and bought the 4 they had plus a bunch of the slightly taller ones and I said That will do. So I'm not crazy. I'm not running all over the world to find things.

Thankfully my best friend in the whole wide world is creative. So I've enlisted her help. I'm hoping to reuse the poms she made for my shower. Plus I'm finding new ideas all the time.

Like these

Yard letters

I think I can handle that. Maybe in black with some yellow

I also love these paper flowers. I found strings of them on an etsy shop but they are a little pricey so I'm hoping we might be able to recreate them.

hmmmmm.......I haven't been able to find flowers i like for my center pieces maybe we could go this route?? With different shades of yellow...... maybe a few with patterns. I think it's a cute idea.

OHHH and the ideas we have...........Jeremy tells me not to tell people the ideas we have, I'm not very good at following those rules. But We have lots of ideas that showcase US! Our personalities, our likes, just all around US! I'm so excited to put things together and get this party moving! only 97 days 13 hours 28 minutes and 29 seconds! And then.......the Honeymoon!!

Pool TIME!

We finally opened my moms pool for the weekend.
It was so COLD!! But Sarah and Kanyon didn't mind.
Sarah loved jumping in the pool.

1...2.....3!!!!

It was a nice way to spend an afternoon.

At least I'm not a 40 year old man in dunk tank dressed like a clown.....

My cousin turned 40 this month. I guess technically he's my cousins husband...but i was 10 when he came into the family so...he's my cousin. Don't care if he likes it or not. Well he turned 40. 40. 40.

I don't know who that happen. Jimmy and Missy took me out for my 21st birthday. I was there when Missy hit 30 and Jimmy hit 30. Where has the time gone. He's 40.

Now maybe it's me but my idea of any awesome party would NEVER involve me in a CLOWN suit sitting in a DUNK TANK. But his apparently did. So that's what he did. Suited up climbed into the freezing cold dunk tank and waited for someone to knock him in. I'll say this, the kids had a field day. And he went in.......a lot.

 Jimmy in the clown suit

Jimmy waiting for someone to knock him in

So let's see. the run down on my last five months

I got engaged

After that the fun stuff started
  1. We registered
  2. Say YES to the dress
  3. Brides maid's dresses and my shower
WE are now a short 110 days, 16 hours, 39 minutes and 27, 26, 25, 24 seconds.

Not that I'm counting.....or anything.

And only 111 days, 8 hours, 37 minutes, and 59, 58, 57, 56 seconds.

Again........not that I'm counting.

I feel like I should have more to say for myself for the last five months...........

This one time in 4th grade

1.) Share a story from fourth grade. (inspired by Wild Life in the Woods).

I wouldlike to start by saying I was a great kid, .....a good kid.......ok ok I was alright 50% of the time kid but mostly i was a monster. I would like to blame my brother, he didn't set the best example and clearly I was easily influenced by other people....at least that's what I claimed to my mom and dad.

When i was in 4th grade I had the honor of being in Mr. Young's class. the aforementioned brother had Mr. Young the year before.......so it's fair to say this teacher knew what was in store for him. I really wasn't bad. I was a school safety, that has to say something for my character. Well it at least says something for my school, they would let any kid step out into traffic to cross kids, they weren't picky.

Mr. Young kept a calendar where he marked down missed assignments. the last week of every month anyone who hadn't missed any assignments received an extra recess. If you missed one you had to sit out for 5 minutes. 2 assignments you sat out for 10 minutes. 3 or more.....you watched from the comfort of your desk while your classmates ran around like little nuts outside. needless to say I missed a lot of extra recesses.

I stuff to do and it sure wasn't homework. I was a Girl Scout, took karate classes, and went for a lot of bike rides. homework was just weighing me down. Well after a while Mr. Young sent home a paper to my parents.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. McMean,
Amy has repeatedly missed extra recesses due to large number of missed assignments. I wanted to make you aware that she is consistently missing work, turning in half completed work, and bringing things in late. Please sign and return this sheet to me by (fill in the date here)
Thank you
Mr. Young

Now I WILL never understand why they give these to the students to take home and return. So I did the only thing I could. I SIGNED my DAD's NAME.

Yup. Committing felonies since 4th grade right here ! Looking back it probably wasn't my only choice. Needless to say Mr. Young wasn't fooled AT ALL. And this time he called my parents. Now like i said I was a "good" kid, so my parents sat me down and said

"We know your brother signed the paper, you shouldn't have let him do that."

uhmmmm..............ok. Your right I shouldn't have.....he's such a bad influence on me.

Stop over at Mama Kat's to see what everyone is up to

So we are now just shy of 4 months till the wedding. AHHHH. When did that happen. It's not like we ever had a lot of time, we picked a date a mire 9 months from the day he proposed. We are NUTS excited! Today i decided we I should try my hand at making some center pieces. Here's the break down on our wedding it's
  • low key, just like us.
  • We are using Lego's in different aspects, cause Jeremy LOVES Lego's.
  • I wanted something to bring our colors together and a cool way to add the table numbers.
Below is what I came up with. Please note these are ROUGH assembles.

Up first a more modern look. Since we are using Lego's for some small aspects in our decorating I thought we might like a look like this. It's a glass bowl with Lego's. Next we have a tall vase that we would either paint yellow or black and mask off the number for the table, so it would show through once a candle is placed inside. and top it off with some flowers in our colors.

Next up

I really loved liked this one. If this was the winner we would stain the wooden cylinder and place matching flowers inside. The number I would either stain or paint black so it stands out from the flowers. I think some more greens in the vase and maybe some lace fabric and edging hanging over the side a bit would really make it look chic. Although the container is a bit flimsy.
Closer look at the number.

And after all my hard work and two trips to two different craft stores......................................................THE WINNER IS!!!!

It's not the best picture. But i found these tapered square containers that hold the flowers up better, it has a lot less space for the flowers to gap and look "fake". So we have decided to go back to Michael's and see if we can get about 10 more. they were on clearance today......so I'm hoping they are enough. (crossing my fingers). then we will stain them and i think I still want to get some lace fabric to drape over the edges a bit. I think it'll give it a nice elegant touch.

Fun filled weekend

On Saturday we took Scott to Home Depot. Apparently Home Depot and Lowe's both do kid builds and Saturday was build a "flower planter". Scott enjoyed it. And we picked up a flower for him to pant in the planter.

Planter all done...... painted up nice

On Friday we had some nice weather so we went to the park with big brother and his family. I like going to park and being the only people there. Kanyon and Scott ran around like nuts and Sarah ran right behind them, she wasn't getting left out. She loves playing with the big kids.....sometimes she forgets she can't do EVERYTHING they can.....but she sure does try.

After the playground we walked down to the creek and since poor little Sarah wasn't allowed to climb down the rocky embankment to play in the water, she had to settle for throwing rocks in the water from up on the bridge. It's tough being a 2 1/2 year old girl with almost 9 year old boys.

Big brother, Kanyon and Scott climbed on the rocks and looked for crayfish. We'll need to find some old shoes for Scott so he has some good creek shoes for playing int he water this summer. We are looking forward to some fun summer days.
