Just for fun

Click on the button for more photos

I liked it better when my (twin) cousins and my nephew were little. Sure, they are still little now at 8 and 6 but they aren't little babies. babies don't insist on making goofy faces and striking poses. I have never had a baby say "is that my good side" or throw up what appears to be playground gang signs. Kids these days. So I've resorted to taking photos when they aren't paying attention. Or bargaining with them. Ok guys one nice photo and the next one i want to see some REALLY goofy faces. Fair? and this is what I got.

I swear Jessica (end on the left) looks like the monster from Where the Wild things are. I think it's only fair I share the "good" photo they allowed me to take.

Ahh cousins. The thing is, the 3 of them usually get along just like they are in this photo.

Stop over at I heart Faces and see what everyone else is posting this week in the "just for fun" section.

Monday.......already

I have a bad case of the Mondays. Really my life is pretty much a bad case of the Mondays everyday. Oh well. Lately i just haven't felt much like working. I spend much of the day dreaming about ways to be "sick" this week, fake a work injury, leave early, come in late. whatever will get me out of here. so today this is how i feel.

this is where i would like to be. With a raft, fishing rod, and some beer. And a life jacket to go with the beer.

Unfortunately this is where I am

Almost the same place.

Happy Monday everyone. Happy Monday.

Who's your boss?!

This week I'm really feeling the help wanted ad. Although by Thursday anything even remotely newspaper related is enough to make me gag. But I'll do this prompt anyways. Call it the east way out. I'm fine with that. I'm fairly good at being mediocre. Here goes

For once dear bloggy friends......I AM the prson to see about the application. LOL.
Stop over at Mama Kat's and see what else is new.

a Teshin and tishin

First and foremost. The cool ladies over at I Heart Faces are helping their celeb judge this week Lori Nordstrom with a give-a-way. She's giving one lucky winner a awesome camera strap from her Spice up your Camera pepper.

WOW. These straps sure give those dingy old plain black ones a run for their money. There are so many to choose from. I think my favorite is the marmalade one. But I also REALLY liked the Bourbon Street one.

You should all stop over and see whats up at I Heart Faces. If you love taking pictures like i do you'll love their awesome site and contests every week.

now on to less pressing issues.

I dislike John Tesh. As I'm sure Mary Hart does. I mean come on. It's John Tesh. Whats my problem with the Teshster, you may be asking yourself. He sucks the fun out of life. That's right ladies and gentlemen, I dub him Sr. John Tesh fun sucker outer. Honestly. What is so wrong in this mans life that he feels the need to take all the fun out of his listeners lives. More importantly how many people are buying into this new religion of Teshness. My cousin is. I love her but I swear to (insert religious icon here) that she brings him up and his "knowledge". His words of wisdom.

Last night I happen to catch part of his show last night while driving home in my car. Now I listened because he was downing one of my favorite places. THE BEACH. Oh yes dear friends Tesh is a beach HATER. He was talking about some "study", I'm sure. It's always a study with him, that says that wet sand carries bacteria and you can get infections while at the beach. He went on to say that you should get the wet sand off your skin as soon as you are able, and wear shoes. I think. I was pretty much going "TESH! what the hell!" during the rest of it. He also said that you should take your own lemon juice packets to the restaurant because the lemon wedges are full of germs. NEWSFLASH TESHER the whole places is full of germs. The handles tot he door are germ filled. I'm not going to be that old lady at the restaurant who brings her own condiments. He said picnic tables that do not have table clothes on them are a breeding ground for germs and bacteria. Ok. So we can't go to the beach, we can't have lemon in our ice tea, we can't eat at an uncovered picnic table. Oh boy isn't summer swell. Mr. Tesh wouldn't last one damn day at our family picnics. We eat our food off the same table we just dripped crab juice all over while double dippin in the seasoning. The potato salad done sat out all day and the flies are a swarming but we're still eating.

So you, my dear Mr. Tesh, stay put inside your sterilized bubble in your radio station and leave the germs to the real men....and me.

P.S.
His slogan is something like "If it's not acceptable for an 11 year old you wont hear it here"

Enough said.

Let's hear it for the boys!

I took this picture at Christmas of Kanyon. My grandmother his GG bought this hat for my mom. After GG left we all took turns wearing the hat. No one liked it. But I thought it made him look like a little old man. It's like it was made for him. Stop by I heart Faces 2 see more of the "Let's hear it for the boys" photo challenge

Is this really the face you want to see of the person holding the electric carving knife? I think not. Stop by I heart Faces-Adults to see more of this weeks entries.

Keep it rollin

Since BB and i are on a gift giving roll I wanted to keep it moving. Tomorrow is our parents 30th anniversary. 30 years! WOW. So I order some flowers for them. I wish i had a real job that paid real money and not peanuts and toe nail clippings like this place. If i did. I would have gotten them a huge "look at me" arrangement. But alas. in the end who needs that. So here is what I'm sending from Me, BB, BB's girlfriend and my nephew. short and simple and to the point. So dinner out on Friday night with the family and these flowers are their anniversary gifts.

I think they are very pretty. I'm just hoping they look this good in person. Fingers crossed. I'm using a different flower shop because the normal one is well "Rip you off Flowers and Treats". And I'm tired of getting ripped off. So hopefully "Pretty and Reasonably priced" will do better.

yumTASTIC

Is that a word. Yumtastic! I'm sure it's not, but it should be. Sometimes yummy isn't a good enough adjective. neither is Fantastic. So i opt for yumtastic. and this my dear bloggy friends was yumtastic! This, beside an awful photo, is a yumtastic concoction I found at the grocery store on Friday. The day i was in much need of something chocolaty and peanut buttery. It called my name from the display, "McMean, McMean you know you want me. I'm tasty and I will fill the vacant wholes in your soul." Enough said I was sold. It was a huge bowl of chocolate cake, with chocolate pudding and a HUMONGOUS amount of peanut butter frosting. It was YUMTASTIC.
all this for $2.99 HAVE YOU LOST YOU"RE MIND? I ate it over the weekend as it was to big/rich to eat in one sitting. Well to much to eat in one sitting if you aren't nursing a broken heart or some other life altering heart break. It was very good.

Strummin along

Big brother and I don't agree on much. EVER. We are after all. Siblings. But when BB called me to see what I thought about getting our dad a new guitar for father's day I was in complete agreement. Sounds like a plan Stan. I don't know much about guitars. I know the nice ones are EXPENSIVE and the cheap ones sound bad. But BB has a good job now and told me i could chip in whatever i could afford. Sounds fair. I've covered him many a mother's and father's day.

Friday he called to tell me he found a nice guitar at the second hand store where he bought his last year and picked up along with a new stand for my dad and some picks. total cost $100. SOUNDS GREAT. I went over to his house Friday night where BB, my nephew and I all had a jam session, much to the horror of BB's girlfriend. LOL.

Fast forward to today. We arrive up at my dad's house and set up the guitar in the stand. When Dad comes down stairs he gets the "happy father's day" from everyone and my nephew hands him a pick. He was so surprised. He picked it up and started playing right away. He hasn't played in a LONG TIME. He was really chocked up. and Cried. BB and looked at each other and you could see it flash in both our eyes "JACKPOT'. He was happy. It's the first guitar that he's owned that didn't come from a yard sale or a family member after it wasn't beaten up. He knows it's second hand, but it's his second hand guitar. I didn't take any pictures, because he was tearing up which made us all tear up. But I'll post some another time. I did how every google some pictures that are pretty close. It's an all black Gibson with a white pin strip around it. NICE. Boy does this thing shine!

That's it. all that was in the email. Wendy emails this back Wednesday~

We need a few more pieces of information: Name, address and phone number of person paying for the ad. Do we have a photo that you would like us to use? Is there a border that you have in mind for the memorial? We will be contacting you today once we receive the needed information in regards to making payment as today is the deadline for Sunday.
The Obituary Team
York Newspaper Co.

Here is the response TODAY. As note above the deadline was YESTERDAY

How much is the ad? It doesn't say anything about a cost in the newspaper. No photo and just a plain border is fine.

So I responded~
The cost would be $55 for the text you provided. However the deadline for Sunday was yesterday by 3 p.m. At this time the ad COULD NOT appear on Sunday June 21.

And what did they say back~
Well thanks alot! I would never have paid $55 dollars anyway!

My response back, oh yeah I emailed them back.

You're welcome :)

I know those memoriams can be pricey. But Don't get all ! with me. I'm pretty certain I did not email you to place a memoriam ad. Pretty sure I wasn't soliciting you for business. You emailed us. I'm sorry if you don't want to pay $55 to show how much you love your deceased father. I don't understand how most people can in this economy. but don't throw this ! at me like i just tried to trick you into getting the 10 year warranty on a carrot peeler. PAL!!!
How you like those ! Buddy.

Also, Well Thanks alot! What the hell is that about? you emailed us at 10:30 in the morning on Wednesday. Wendy emailed you back at 10:35 in the morning. 5 minutes later. That gave you 5 1/2 hours till deadline. and you say Well thanks a lot! like it's our fault you didn't email us back until 4:38 p.m. on Thursday. A DAY LATER. Well thanks alot! So I said the only thing that makes sense when someone thanks me. YOU'RE WELCOME :)

Picture (not so)perfect

I swear time is standing still today. I SWEAR it. Maybe moving backwards, it's just that slow here. I guess that's good right. Slow day here means not many people dieing. Right? So that's good....unless you make your living off death, like the funeral directors. Or unless you're me and you have nothing to do.

Here's my day so far

  • got up
  • watched Step-Brothers
  • ate some Eggo's (?)
  • went to Ross's Dress for Less and tried on some dresses. DON'T ask.
  • grabbed lunch at chick-fil-a
  • came to work.
  • did an estate notice
  • read blogs
  • facebook
  • myspace
  • blogs
  • printed some envelopes
  • filled in my time sheet
  • spun around on the chair till i got dizzy
  • now I'm blogging.

BORING! I didn't do my writing assignment as I was home sick yesterday from work *cough cough*. So I'm passing this week. I tried to copy off someone but i wasn't motivated enough. so I'm going to do the photo post Diane did. Because really who DOESN'T want too be like Diane

"It's really simple. I love how every photo tells a story. Some short stories, some long tales. I want to know what is your favourite photo of yourself. Everyone has one. The photo they look at and smile. It reminds them of something, some time, some place. A moment in time. So share the photo, share the story and then tag three other people. I want to see photos and stories all around the blogosphere".

I'll have to use this photo of me and Jules when we went to visit Kitty last year in Colorado. We took this at Coores Field during a Rockies game. I like it because it's one of the few pictures from Colorado that you can't tell i weight a metric ton! No really. I think it's a cute picture of us and we had a blast at the game. and i look cute with my wind blown hair!

TAG!

What's left

this is what I have left from my sleep over with the twin 8-year old monster.
Thing 1 left the top one and thing 2 left the bottom one.

Now before you start ohhing and ahhing and thinking what SWEET, WONDERFUL, ANGELIC children they MUST be. NO. They are not. oh yeah sure this is nice. I'm not sure why my arms are so deformed. Strange. These girls don't know it (or do they) but my arms are one of the two body parts I'm self conscious about (those and my legs). interesting that those would be the body parts that look deformed when they draw me. Wow I'm going to need some ice cream to deal with that revaluation. WOW. Thanks girls. Anywho. this is what I have left as I've torn out most of my hair.

I LOVE them because I have too. I LIKE them because i choose to, but every time they leave my house i think maybe I don't like them so much anymore. They are. a. pain. Not a little pain. a HUGE pain.

Thing 2 decided that during lunch (at the pizza buffet of all places) she was going to announce that my ARMS (DAMN IT) are fat. And so are my LEGS (DAMN IT SQUARED), and then she added she noticed they jiggle. I've never TRULY wanted to punch an 8-year old in the face. But I did (want to) that day. I thought about it, glanced around the pizza place and wondered if anyone (all 5 people) would notice. I'm not a parent. I don't know what to say. I tried to channel my bloggy parent friends. I heard (in my head) different voices. Talk to her about why this is wrong. Tell her how this made you feel. PUNCH HER IN THE FACE. My next feeling was to say something mean and hateful to her. I opted to deal with it a different way. I think it's important (on some level) to mention Thing 1 (aka my favorite) tried to defend her sister by saying "she didn't really mean it Amy she's joking". But thing 2 (the anti Christ) stopped her with "No. I meant it." AHHHHH. PUNCH HER IN THE FACE! So i took a DEEP breath looked Thing 2 dead in her face, gave her the meanest look i could muster (which wasn't hard) and said, "That really hurts my feelings and makes me mad that you would say something like that to me. I don't say mean things like that to you and that upsets me. When you do that it makes me not want to invite you over anymore." and Thing 2 cried. JACKPOT! Thing 1 said "Oh don't cry thing 2". to which i responded "I don't know why you're crying I'm the one who had their feelings hurt. now eat your pizza." and went about eating my pizza.

Even after all that. They stayed with me all day long. Played in the pool. Had a blast. when i trade them off to their Dad at 5:30 I got hugs and I love yous. right before he shut the truck door Thing 2 leans up from behind the seat and says "Bye Amy! Good luck getting a better life!"

Punch her in the face!!! what was that about?!

He was out! he fell asleep with his face right on my throat so every time i breathed really deep or laughed is little head moved up and down. So cute. And me without my camera. UGGH!

Special Delievery

Please pass your assignments to the person on the left and than hand those back one person. Ok. Everyone have someone else homework? Good. Commence with the reading of your weekly Mama Kat assignment.

The Prompts:
1.) Describe something someone has done to make you feel special.

(inspired by Le Poppy Design)

2.)Name your current addiction...we can get through this together.
(inspired by Lula

3.) What have you been busy doing that's keeping you from updating your blog? How hard is it for you to get back into the swing of blogging when you take time off?
(inspired by Sera)

4.) Write a letter.
(inspired by eyegirl)

5.) Where would you like to be?
(inspired by T.J.)

Okay.
1.) no clue. I haven't felt special in a while. Not that it's bad. I'm not feeling forgotten or anything. Well you know what La Pixi tagged me and that made me feel special. and I'll be doing that post next week. hold me to it everyone!

2.) Rita's Italian Ice. Ahhh I love it. nothing screams summer like some Coconut ice from Rita's. I only need one more punch on my card to get my free treat!!!

3.) I haven't been doing anything. Mainly because I don't have much of a life outside of bloggy world. I work. watch tv. Sleep. and repeat. I'm working on this. I do know that after I've been away for the weekend it's hard to catch up on what I wanted to remember to blog about. WOW that didn't make any sense. sorry. I have been working on my 200th post this week. It's a four part post you should check it out here.

5.) this was take ONE of my 4 part 200th post.

So that leaves
4.) write a letter.

To whom it may concern:

I'm not sure why you feel the need to look at me like a deer in the headlights. I'm not sure why you think I MUST be the person you approach because I was the only one who looked up when the door clicked open. If you had any sense you would know that look didn't mean "please approach me with all questions as I am the helpful friendly person who wants to make all your dreams come true," and that it really meant back slowly out the door and I wont hurt you. Before entering the building THINK about why you are here. Gather your thoughts, as lonely and scared as they are inside that empty head, and please try to reduce the amount of times you say "ahhh", as it's rather annoying. If all else fails please return home and rough draft out an explanation of why you have come to my office today. I don't know why. I wont guess why. I'm not a dentist, so I wont be pulling it out of you physically.

If you have come for some reason other than to place a "Celebration" announcement , which the sign very clearly advertises over my head, DO NOT come to my counter. Do not ask me for an application. Although I do agree that a job in this economy is something to CELEBRATE that is not what I handle. I also do not handle stories about your child's soccer game, 5 generation photos, wet newspaper complaints, bill disputes, puppies for sale, homes for rent, name changes, or the MAIL. For most of those things you will want to check in with the RECEPTIONIST. The nice lady with the sign over her head that very CLEARLY says RECEPTIONIST. Yes it is just that easy. We aren't trying to TRICK you. This isn't How We Do it, I don't have a hidden camera in my bra. We really aren't misleading you. Yes that's right the women with the CLASSIFIED sign over her head, she is who you see about homes for rent and puppies for sale. See you can figure it out. When in doubt please see the RECEPTIONIST.

But I swear to (insert icon here) if any of you ask me one more time for an application WHILE standing directly next to the "SEE RECEPTIONIST FOR APPLICATIONS" sign we have placed next to the desk, that is clearly labeled CELEBRATIONS, I'm going to direct you to the last stall in the men's room at the McDonald's across the way. Because really, come on people.
Thank you
NOT THE RECEPTIONIST

take THREE

100 things down 100 more to go! I'm pretty happy with my idea to celebrate my 200th post in this way. 4 posts of 50 things adding up to 200. Just think of all the fun things you've learned so far. Read carefully there might be a pop quiz after this!

I have one amendment to make to my 50 things I can't live without list. I should have added my CROCKPOT. I love that girl. We are joined at the hip. I have some great CROCKPOT cake recipes that I want to try. So she should have made the list. Sorry Crockpot. SORRY. Honorable mention should have also gone to ......well it rhymes with CORN and it's not PG!

Anywho. Here goes. I was having trouble coming up with the topics for my last 2 lists. So i did what I do. I called Kitty and talked it over with her. after a brainstorming session we had a few ideas I liked. Maybe I'll blog about the ideas I WONT be using another time.

50 things I would do if money WASN'T an issue
  1. I decided LONG ago that if I was ever so lucky to win one of those huge powerball jackpots I was going to set up trust funds for my younger cousins, nephew, and friends kids. With stipulations of course. I'll blog about this another day. But it is by far #1 on my list today!
  2. Buy a Mercedes Benz. Custom made from Germany just for me.
  3. Purchase land in the west (Mt. Wy., Co., ND, SD) and have a family home where all my family could go for visits and vacations
  4. Take my family and friends on an all expenses paid vacation for a MONTH.
  5. Pay all my loans, my parents loans, and my bothers loans OFF.
  6. Buy my cousin, her husband and kids a NEW house on some nice land....near me :)
  7. Buy my parents a home and hire a gardener for them.

199 and counting

I'm lost for words. My next post will be the 200th post. And I've got nada. Nothing. zip to do for my big 2-0-0th post.

I don't know what to do. Maybe I'll hold off on making my big post till like 215 or 220. Maybe I'll have something worth reading when i reach that number. I don't know. Now I've just wasted a post saying how I don't have anything worth posting. AHHH.

I could do some not me Mondays, but I worked 7 of the last 8 days so I haven't really had time to "not" do things.

I will work on this and I will come up with something cool. I think I might have just had an idea. I'm not sure. I don't have them often. Mark this down. Amy had an idea on Monday, June 8, 2009, at 2:29 p.m. uhm.........I might have thought of something for my big 200th post. It will take some time so I might not be able to post it today or tomorrow. But tune in for the big 200th post!

I wish I could do a giveaway or something fun like that. Maybe for 250th.

I'm off ot start working on my 200th post! Wish me luck. I'll need it.

Lunch of champions

I went to my favorite place to eat today! FAVORITE place. Isaac's. It's a deli. and it's super yummy. It's a fun place and the food is always tasty. I take all my out of area friends (as in 1) there when they visit.

Well last month I found a gift card in my work drawer for Isaac's jackpot so today i figured why not stop for some lunch on my way into work. GREAT idea me! and why not take some pictures with my handy dandy phone to share with all my friendly bloggers.

How do you not love a place that gives you pickles to snack on before you get your food. YUMMY. Kitty NEVER eats pickles so when her and I went (before she up and moved across the country) the pickles were all mine. Some of the pickles are sweet, some are tangy and some are down right spicy.

I opted for the combo meal. soup and half a sandwich.

My yummy pepperjack tomato soup. It's my favorite I get it year round and it's always nice and warm and the croutons are yummy. *breaks long strand of drool from mouth*

And i finished it off with a taste half Reuben. Which was piled high and the kraut was just right with lots of melted cheese on top of that. And just the right amount of dressing. the bread was crunch and not greasy like a lot of places. It was heavenly. If food could go to heaven this meal is flying first class. My sandwich came with a side of chips, regular, sweet potato, and those purple kind. ahh. I'm making myself hungry again.

Isaac's is interesting, all the sandwiches are named after birds. and all they serve are sandwiches, soup, salad, and pizzas (but i don't think many people eat those just the kids)

R.I.P. McMean (not really)

OH man! Thank you Mama Kat. Finally a prompt I can hit on the head! After all Obits are my.....job. I've already written my obit once before, however it wasn't 45 words or less. That time I just wanted to see how much it would cost to run in our paper. It was a lot. It was to much! Take it from me, the obit clerk, those long rambling obits about how WONDERFUL you were and what not. A little over the top.

So 45 words or less my obit would be as follows.

Amy McMean, 100, died today after a long life. She lived her life, right or wrong, the way she wanted. She makes no apologies for what she did, how she thought or the way she acted. If you knew her you’ll understand.

If i could change my career path right now. Trust me being an obit clerk isn't all it's cracked up to be. I would be a party planner. Hows that for a 360. I love planning parties, making things, decorating, everything. I'm good at it. I just don't have the never ending budget to make my parties the best they could be. I would do great with a bigger budget :)

so what prompt did you pick

Wordful Wednesday

Swing by and check out the rest of the Wordful Wednesdays

We celebrated my nephews 6th birthday Saturday. It was warm and sunny and the kids had a ball. They swam, ate cake, threw water balloons, and used the slip and slide. For a kid. A great day. For Aunt Amy. an exhausting day.
As I was the official photo taker. Like always! And the only one brave (dumb) enough to stand at the end to get the action shoots.

keeping it cool with cousins!

sale in the yard

I'm a HUGE m&m's fan. It's sick actually. I have so many dispensers and figures and.....stuff. It's pretty disturbing. I know what you're thinking. It can be disturbing. They are cute. TRUST me. It. Is. Well Friday morning (9 a.m. ugh!) My #1 cousin and I went a Yard Sale shopping! I love yard sales. I love junk. Plus it gives us a good reason to hangout.

Look at my loot. My booty from the trip!

Yes sir. these are some of the older dispensers. You can't get them on the site, or in stores. It' the football and baseball ones. This is how old they are. the one had a price tag on it from HILLS! Hills. That store has been closed down for EVER!

#1 cousin thought it was hilarious. We both said we never see m&m stuff so I had to get them. Did i need them. NO. Do i have room for them. NO. Did i shell out $20 for the pair. YES.

I call it a good day.

I went to the hospital to see Preggers today before work. And meet LOGAN! What a cute kid. I'll post pics as soon as I get them uploaded. He's a keeper!
