G-O T-E-A-M!!!

I love football. LOVE IT. The suspense. The unruly crowds. The face paint. The jersey's. the cold beer and warm hot dogs. I LOVE FOOTBALL. Oh did I mention those nice tight pants, and big honking bulging....arms. Hey I'm still a girl you know. Sometimes the game isn't all that interesting. So needless to say I can't WAIT till September 10th!! Thursday night football with the Steelers front and center. It's been a long 8 months. I can't wait to throw on my jersey, throw back some cold beers and yell at the TV. It'll be great! But enough about me. There is another aspect of football that can't be denied. CHEER LEADING. Hey whatever. To each their own. I like cheerleaders. They have some cute little skirts and do some pretty crazy jumps and throws. I can respect that. Although, did you see those chicks cheering during the Eagles game last week. What was that. I thought to myself "I guess the have a second string cheer leading squad for preseason also." anywho.

My two angelic (HAHAHA) twin cousins, Monster 1 and Monster 2, have joined the ranks for Spring Grove PeeWee Football cheerleaders. Just what 2 boy crazy 3rd graders need. But they do look super cute in their little uniforms.

Really the JETS? Well we can't have everything. I can't wait to go to a game and see them cheer. I told Jessica to pick out a cute linemen and cheer for him. she asked what that was? OH MY.

Buffalo part 1

Sorry I've been a bit....M.I.A. lately. You know me, easily distracted by shiny things. It's a long story, my MIA-ness, and I honestly don't want to get into it. Not today. Maybe not every.
Instead, let's talk Buffalo. I went up Thursday and came home Sunday, just long enough for a nice little vacation. Soccermoms baby shower was the main draw, the Smith Klan was the second draw, and the food....welll, maybe the food was second. Shhh. don't tell anyone.

It rained off and on which made doing things rather difficult. But thankfully rain has no effect on food. We hit up Ted's for so yummy grilled dogs. Duffs for wings. Wings that were 'supposed" to not burnt he hell out of my lips. HOWEVER, they did. And finally Vizzies. home of the MONSTER burger. Home of the "heart attack giver". I opted to try something else on the menu and went with Beef on Weck. If you don't know what Beef on Weck is, it's sliced beef on a roll that's topped with SALT. I've had it before but never from Vizzies. I was so excited. And then this came out.
I've never felt DEFEATED by my food before. It was HUGE! I knew it would be huge. It's kind of the theme of the place. but CHRIST. I had to pull half, more then half, of the meat off just so I could make it small enough to fit in my mouth. The next picture is STAGED. It was after I took meat out, but not enough.

Steve took the picture for me. You can see the beef hanging down from the back. It was CRAZY. and NO my dear friends. I did NOT eat the whole thing. NOT even close. I took a huge pile of meat off and cut the sandwich in half and only consumed one half of the sandwich. There was still half left over and enough meat for two more NORMAL sized sandwiches. I HEART Vizzies!

Same kid different day

Maybe my theme this week (yesterday and today) should have been MY NEPHEW. Because I'm going to delight everyone with some fun photos from the weekend. YES. PHOTOS. of people you don't really know. What could be better then that?

When Big Brother and i were younger, 10 or so, my dad bought a go-cart. Well to be honest we had a few go-carts and four wheelers in our day, but this particular one was "for us" but not really at the same time. We wanted something fast! Something that would run in the field or the parking lot. Did i mention we wanted something FAST. So my dad buys a "go-cart" that looks like a model T. Yup. A Model T. Now this "go-cart" as it was billed was built for 1. and there was always more then 1 of us. So we converted the back part to more riding space. Someone drove and someone rode int he back, conveniently sitting right over top the DO NOT RIDE WITH PEOPLE IN THE BACK sign. And we were rough on it. So rough. But hey, we were kids and we were rough on EVERYTHING. BB would drive while Myself, or one of our friends would hold on for dear life on the back. Sometimes when we were feeling daring we would lace up our Rollerblades and let BB pull us around behind the "go-cart". Looking back possibly not our brightest moment. Alas we were kids.

What does this have to do With Kanyon? Well BB got the "go-cart" out two weekends ago (yes my dad still has it) and started tinkering with it. it ran. So on we threw Kanyon. And here is the conversation from that.
BB~ You can ride it now, get on
Kanyon~ Wheres my helmet?
BB~ (looks at me) ahhh...
Me~ We don't have your helmet here but it'll be ok
Kanyon~ Daddy you really should have brought my helmet if I was going to be riding this go-cart.
BB and Me~ (blank stares) ahhhhh
BB~ GET ON! and don't go to fast.
Kanyon~ (takes off way to fast)
Me~ Helmet huh? We should have thought about that...right?
BB~ I guess so.
US~ Oh well.

No respect I tell ya, No respect

This is Kanyon. the one child that is required by LAW to call me Aunt Amy. REQUIRED by law. and he doesn't. Never has. I've always been just. Amy. Or when he's goofy Amy-way-me. this next kid better call me Aunt Amy. It's a title i feel I've earned. I changed his diapers. Who scooped him up off the floor during the Easter Explosion of 2004, rushed him up stairs and threw him in the tub. Yours truly. for the record it was gross. GAG me. Who pulled him out of the pine tree and wiped off his tears after his Daddy let the sled go right into the tree. ME. Who played endless games of TROUBLE with him until she wanted to pull her hair out or smooth his winning ass with a pillow. ME. And yet do i get a little respect? NO. Where did i go wrong with this kid? I blame Sponge Bob. Mainly because i hate that stupid little ocean dweller.

don't get me wrong I LOVE my nephew. but sometimes he's more like a little brother then a nephew. He tattles on me when i dangle him outside the pool, when i shove him in the water with his mouth open, when i throw the diving rings at his head (not hard). He fights me for the best toys (why must I always be the beat up match box car with a missing wheel?). And for some reason whenever we play star wars or power ranger, my two FAVORITE things to do (insert eye roll), i never win. I cut off his arm he replaces it with a robot arm. He cuts off my arm... I'm dead? What? different rules? Here's what happen Saturday.

Kanyon~ I'll be Darth Mal (spelling?)
Me~ I want to be Yoda.
Kanyon~ Can you jump over me?
Me~ What
Kanyon~ Can. You. Jump. Over. ME (said it very smart ass like, like he was speaking slowly for me because i'm stupid or something)
Me~ Uhm pretending? Yes.
Kanyon~ We aren't pretending.
Me~What? (my mistake didn't realize this was FOR REAL)
Kanyon~ If you can't jump over me while I'm standing up, you can't be Yoda.
Me~ I'll pretend to jump over you like this. (i make weird gestures and then jump in the air)
Kanyon~ What was that?
Me~I jumped over you.
Kanyon~ Uhm. no you didn't.
Me~ I don't want to play anymore. (throws sword down and stomps off in a huff)

Yes I am just that grown up.

FREE STUFF

Some of you might remember a few weeks ago I gave a shout to an old school friend who has an Etsy shop. Enjoy by Michael Lynn Wherley. He makes really cool handbags. I wish I was capable of sewing a button back on my pants. Alas. I am not. So I'm amazed by people who can make things like clothing and bags. I made a little drawstring bag before and the stupid thing never tighten up. I'm better with paper, and paint. and if you need a hand with a Halloween party. I. am. your girl. But sewing. not so much. WOW holy Tangent. sorry about that. So anyway, where does the free stuff come into play you might be asking yourself. I swear it wasn't a ruse to get you to ready my blog today. There is free stuff.

Another classmate is hosting a give away on her blog. Up for grabs, a handmade bag by Mr. Michael Lynn Wherley. Yes that's right. an original. can't find it anywhere else, Kick ass bag. All you have to do is go check out Fikle Chik and follow her rules for entering. You get to pick from a few of her favorites. and the girl has taste. so I'm plugging Mike's shop, and Lauren's blog today, because us West York kids seem to stick together.

My favorite bag up for grabs is #8 on her board. I'm so glad it's on there I was looking at Mike's site last week (I think it was last week time blends together so much), and i saw it and fell in love. So that's my pick. I think you should all swing by and check out the give a way over at Fikle Chik, I think you guys will enjoy her blog all around. And stop by Enjoy and check out all the bags Mike has to offer.

P.S.
If any of you win I get borrowing rights to the bag :) Best of Luck!!

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL

The countdown has begun. The countdown to FOOTBALL SEASON. In less then 1 week the Steelers will have their first preseason game against....their old pals from the super bowl, the Arizona Cardinals. I'm stoked.
Yes. I understand it's preseason. Yes i get the fact that these games don't count. And I'll see 4th string guys I didn't even know existed. But....it's football time. It's STEELERS FOOTBALL time. And I love me some Steelers football. So imagine how sad I was to see they play the Bills preseason, the week AFTER I'll be in Buffalo. AHH. I could have watched the game with the Smith's. Soccermom and I in our Steelers Jersey's and Steve in his Bills (lame) jersey. Oh well.

Can't wait to see what happens this season. I just hope they play as well as they did last year. I would hate to see them shit the bed after winning the SB.

6 days to go. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?

Worked to the bone

The Prompts:
1.) What's ailing you? Diagnose yourself with a syndrome.
2.) Share with us something you made by hand.
3.) Fess up. Tell us what you found after a spying on someone.
4.) "How are y'all doing it? This summer, I mean? I cannot remember ever being as busy as we've been over the past two months. Those of you who are blogging daily, being as witty and entertaining as ever...I beg of you...HOW?"
5.)What are you afraid of?

To my faithful readers, I'm sorry if you've read something similar, by similar i mean almost verbatim, early this week on my blog. But i have provided more back story this time :) You have the wonderful Mama Kat to thank for this re-post. Enjoy

I've decided to share with everyone something i hand made. Apparently ALL my friends decided to get together and choose this year to get knocked up. Yeah. nice of them huh. I swear sometimes people think only of themselves. So this has meant busy times for me with baby showers, and baby gift buying. i thought something handmade would be a nice touch to all the rattles and onies. So i opted to make them scrapbooks. Because let's face it. They wouldn't have time to do it themselves what with all the feedings, diapers, and baby vomit to contend with. So I set upon making them for them. I just finished my second one and have maybe 2 more to go yet. OH BOY! The first one was fun, this one wasn't to bad, but I'm REALLY not looking forward to the NEXT one. Lucky for me i have about 4 months before i need to start it so that'll give me some time to get back into the happy place i need to be in to hammer another one out. So without further delay. I give you 5 pages from Soccer Mom's scrapbook.

the best part. They all know about eachothers books, so they are awaiting their own. GREAT

Head out on the highway.....

I've posted a LOT about the visit I had with my friends the Smith's from Buffalo. I promise this will be the last post until I. Amy McMean go to Buffalo in 3 weeks. I PROMISE! So here it is my Wordful Wednesday post.

I live in York, Pa. claim to fame~ We have a Harley plant here, for how much longer is up in the air, so my friends have always wanted to go to Harley for the tour. So This visit, we made it. ENJOY!
I've lived in York 27 years, give or take the 5 i lived somewhere else, and I've NEVER gone on the Harley Plant tour. I've only ever been over to the plant ONCE. And I come from a Harley family. And a how things are made kind of family, so it's always seemed odd we never went. Well. Now we've gone. Minus my brother who couldn't go on the plant tour part because my nephew was to young. GRRRR.... However they were able to join us for the "sit on the bike" part. Which let's be honest was the best part!
Kanyon enjoyed climbing all over the bikes.

The Smith's on their bike. THEY WISH!

Our tour was modified because they were working on the 2010 bikes so they couldn't take us to the assembly line. They were having the dealer show that weekend so after then you could see the bikes. they are very Willy Wonker and Chocolate Factory secretive about the bikes. So now you can go see the Assembly line, but we couldn't. Figures. We had a blast none the less.

Real Gold Flakes

So i blog about my friends A LOT. I blog about my bloggy friends A LOT. I blog about my nephew...you guessed it A LOT. I even blog about my family. Oh yeah and Logan, but who wouldn't blog about a cute little baby who SMILES NOW! I'll need to get some of those pictures up. But this isn't about any of those things. Well...... it sort of is. I'm going to blog about Soccermom's husband, Steve Smith. Yes people that is his real honest to goodness name. Mr. Steven Smith. How much more generic can you get. anywho.

Steve Smith. What can i say about Mr. Smith. He's handy. He put my a/c unit for me once. He's accommodating. He's let me tag along to the driving range to hit some balls when the wife was busy and i was in town. He even let em it int he hot car with the windows rolled up for what seemed like hours while he talked to some guy about golf clubs. He's a peach. But i think these photos say it best. This is the face of someone who is about to be someones FATHER. In October he will be welcoming his first child, with the lovely Soccermom.

Yup. these guy. the one on the rocket ship trying to live out his life long dream to ride the quarter rocket, is going to be guiding a CHILD. Best of luck to you. and oh yeah. thanks for stopping by. I just felt compelled to say that.

No. I think he'll be a fine dad. I mean. He showed me how to hit a golf ball, drank shots of Goldslagger (?) with until we (I) could hardly stand. Told my ex I was easy. And loves the Maury Povich show. See the makings of a great dad.

Right back at YOU!

I read Steelers Gab, because....well I'm a Steelers FAN! I pulled the jersey out of the closet the other day and gave it a good shake. Knocked some of the dust off as training camp starts up. I'm stoked for the season to start. Stoked to wear my new jersey! Stoked to watch the boys try to repeat last season. Needless to say I'm stoked. And I'm not even a early 90's surfer. But I'm still STOKED.

So Imagine the good chuckle I got while catching up on my Steelers Gab today. Sure a lot of the posts were about Big Ben and the "did he or didn't he". In my opinion, which doesn't count for much, I would say he didn't. but what do I know, maybe he did. Either way I don't think we'll ever know for sure. But the post I especial enjoyed. was this one. CRACKED ME UP.

So you know what I have to say to you Mr. Suggs, aside from Suggs who?, right back at you big boy. I'd hate the Steelers to if they knocked you out of the super bowl. I'd hate the steelers to if it was always a down and dirty prison yard football game when you play them. I'd hate them to. Makes sense. I'm kind of glad you aren't wearing a "you beat your sweet ass I LOVE the Steelers", that would be cause for concern. So right back at you big boy.

Because while the Browns will always be our rivals. The Ravens are by FAR the team every steelers fan wants to see stomped into the ground. No hard feelings Suggs. Just sayin. See ya in November buddy. Oh yeah and say hello to Mr. Lewis for me. Hugs and Kisses!

God I hope they make this shirt with the Ravens instead of the Steelers. I'll be all over that shit!

Preview of Soccermoms scrapbook

So here are a few of the pages I put together for my friend Soccermom's (Mrs. Smith from Buffalo) baby book. Enjoy!

I put a photo on this page of the happy couple in my living room. It's super cute. So those are a few of the pages for her book. I hope she likes it. I think it came out very nice.
