My Top 6

I picked the easy peasy topic today

The 6 best things about being an ADULT.

Hmmm...... adult suddenly sounds to grown up a word to describe myself.......but a las at 30 I'm pretty much past the "social acceptable" age to be a KID.

So my top 6 things about being an adult are (drum roll please) bbabdabhaahhadhadhammm

6. I can watch rated R movies......without needing to be accompanied to the theater.

5. I wont hear any lectures that start out "As long as you live in my house......" until further down the road when I'm USING it to brow beat my children into compliance.

4. I never liked cleaning my room anyway. Thank goodness that's a thing of the past.

3.You wont believe the weird stuff that's on tv at 4 a.m.

2. Sometimes after a long hard day it's nice to kick back, put my feet up on the table and sip on a nice cold beer...........some how an apple juice box just never did the trick for me.

And the #1 thing about being an adult..........as told to me one evening by my 9 year old cousin......brace yourself.

1. "You mean to tell me you can have ice cream for dinner and hash browns for desert and it's ok......You don't even have to ask your mom???!!!"

That's right I don't even have to ask my mom........you should have saw her poor young face when i said "Yup, and I can stay home....all by myself and do whatever I want!"

It was almost earth shattering for her!

Step right up....pick a cake......any cake! No really PLEASE!

So we have our meeting this Saturday with the nice people at the venue for our wedding. We need to give them our food choices, alcohol choices...etc.

So we picked out what we wanted. Well most of what we wanted. My wonderful soon to be husband likes one style of cake and I like a different style. We know we aren't using fondant. while it looks pretty it's not really that great. So butter cream ALL the way for us. We know the flavors we want so it's just the style and design. Here are the two we are down to at the moment.

Option 1
His pick. I don't know why but he's been talking about the whole ribbon the cake style right from Jump Street. Yeah it's nice (remember butter cream icing not this fake smooth fondant) We wouldn't use the pearls. but the flowers on the side could stay and we have a cool topper. it's OK, but I've seen these EVERYWHERE lately.

Option 2

My choice. I think it's very pretty and different. I'm not dumb i realize this one would be SUPER easy to mess up and it could be a disaster but it's still so COOL.

Apparently I'm the only one in the WORLD because everyone else likes option 1. grrr.

Might have to rock, paper, scissor it on Saturday.

Father's Day

So after Jeremy informed me his son said I had something planned for Father's Day (NEWS TO ME) I figured I better plan something. so I did.

First we went to see an IMAX movie. Born to be FREE in 3D and it was AMAZING. It was a doc about 2 different women, one in Africa and one in Asia that rescued animals that were orphaned. The 3D was AMAZING.

Then we walked across to City Island (Harrisburg) and rode the Pride of the Susquehanna. I got us all tickets for the Pirate cruise. There's pizza, soda, ice cream and WATER BATTLES. With Pirates.

Jeremy and Scott

Scott and I

The pirates came in their boat and the fight was on. Water balloons, and water guns, hoses and buckets of water where all part of the battle. I watched from the upstairs....but even i wasn't safe. I took a splatter to the left hip. It was a good time.

The pirates best defense was their motor which they used to spray water on everyone.

They guys were soaked!!! and we had a long walk back over the bridge to the car in wet clothes.

All in all I think it was a pretty good day. And I'm pretty proud with my first attempt to plan a fun Father's Day for Jeremy and Scott.

One time my Dad told me........

I picked ~~Share a lesson you learned from your Dad.

I don't know if it's so much a lesson as a funny story involving my Dad.
When I turned 16 I was PUMPED to be able to drive. I got my learners permit on my first second try and for the next 30 days I drove my Mom EVERYWHERE. My Mom did most of the teaching when it came to driving.....but I remember one time when I talked my Dad in to letting me drive him around. He wasn't too sure about it but he agreed and we set off in my Mom's GEO TRACKER (awesome right!). We drove on mostly back roads, all roads I was very familiar with and roads my Dad thought wouldn't be to crowded. Everything was going very well. Then as I headed down the one side road.....it happen. I was going probably around 40 mph...I should have slowed down. But I had relaxed (that wasn't always an easy thing to do with my Dad) and i wasn't on RED ALERT.

See my Dad was a truck driver. He drove an 18 wheeler from the time he was in his 20's until he passed away at 61. He knew more about driving then I could ever hope to know and he wasn't always gentle when telling you how you MESSED up. So driving with him could be a bit tense. No one wants to let their parent down, right.
So At about 40 mph I hit the worst uneven railroad tracks around. BAMN BOOM BANG BAMN!!! The whole Tracker was shaking, bouncing and my dad and I were jostled all over. On the other side of the trackers I staredt to brace myself for the discussion YELLING. But to my surprise my Dad simply looked at me and then looked straight ahead and said, "Well, I think you might want to slow down next time."
And.
THAT.
Was That.
Needless to say I've never made that mistake on those tracks again....or any railroad crossings.

Another one bites the dust

I stayed home today. My head has been pounding all morning DAY and doesn't appear to be letting up. But i figured as long as I was home I should try to accomplish something on my mile long wedding list. So I did. I finished assembling our invites. Now I was the leading force behind ORDERING invites. the soon to be hubby wanted to print them ourselves. But I said  "I don't want to worry about printing them straight and making sure they don't smear. So I found some on ETSY that we liked and ordered them. Not to be fair it did say SOME ASSEMBLY required. But I didn't realize how much SOME really was until they showed up at my door.

In this photo you will see three different black and white pieces .........well it came in 6 separate pieces. This picture shows each of the sections put together. YEAH some assembly required.

The final product. All 6 pieces assembled to make one invitation. COMPLETE ASSEMBLY REQUIRED.

But hey, it's one more thing to cross off my list.

Check that off!

My mom bought me a wedding planner for Christmas. Not the person. That would be illegal in most places. She bought me the binder with all the different information and pictures, and questions to ask. Actually I received TWO wedding planners for Christmas....SHHHH don't tell my mom. The one mom got had really great stuff and the one Taylor got me had really great other stuff. So I combined them into one MEGA Planner. I've used...mostly when we were just getting started. It was a great source of information when looking at venues. I had know idea what questions to ask....aside from "how much does it cost". I used the flower guide to look at the pretty pretty flowers. And the the pockets to put things i ripped out of bridal magazines (FYI I bought 3 magazines during this whole time...all the first week after getting engaged. I'm not a CRAZY bride). It had great ideas for ceremony decorations and lining my unruly group up.

But I haven't opened my MEGA planner in MONTHS. Mainly because......there is a section where it lists all the things you should do in your time frame.

8 months- Hire your Calligrapher. WHAT? Do people still do that?

Well I'm afraid of that section. It's very overwhelming when you look at it. I'm at the 3 month mark. and I've done........NOTHING.

Not true. We have a place, a dress, bridesmaid dresses, partial centerpieces, half put together invites, ALL the wedding party gifts, favors, seating chart IDEA, card box, wedding topper, sandy vases but no sand, and a TON of ideas.

But now I can check cake server off the list. I wasn't going to buy one. I thought realistically we will NEVER use this again but after being bullied talked into the need for it, I bought one today. I wanted mine to be different and i wasn't excited by any i saw at the stores. Most looked cheap (but weren't) or tacky. So i opted for this.
It'll have our names (not Nicole and Andrew LOL) and our date. I loved the pattern on the cake server. I saw a few on ETSY that were hand stamped on vintage so I feel like this gets that look and is more affordable for me. I'm happy with this.

Quiet down in there voices!

AHH. Wedding. Wedding. Wedding!

That's all I can think about lately. how to decorate, what are we doing about flowers, how much beer do we REALLY need (and if you know my friends it's A LOT), how will I do my hair, and what about make-up (yuck). It just doesn't end.

I feel safe saying I'm not a bridezilla. Not at all. I'm not freaking out about having JUST the right stuff. Case in point. My center pieces. I found wooden vases on clearance at Michael's, they were exactly what I wanted. But they only 3 small ones. They had a bunch that were slightly larger. I'll admit I was a bit annoyed, they would have been perfect! Jeremy asked the people at the store and they said we could go to Lancaster (45 mins East) they had 4 more and then Camp Hill (40 minutes North) for another 4 and that would do it for us. I said NO WAY! I'm not driving all over to get wooden vases. However Jeremy talked me into it the next day so we went to Camp Hill and bought the 4 they had plus a bunch of the slightly taller ones and I said That will do. So I'm not crazy. I'm not running all over the world to find things.

Thankfully my best friend in the whole wide world is creative. So I've enlisted her help. I'm hoping to reuse the poms she made for my shower. Plus I'm finding new ideas all the time.

Like these

Yard letters

I think I can handle that. Maybe in black with some yellow

I also love these paper flowers. I found strings of them on an etsy shop but they are a little pricey so I'm hoping we might be able to recreate them.

hmmmmm.......I haven't been able to find flowers i like for my center pieces maybe we could go this route?? With different shades of yellow...... maybe a few with patterns. I think it's a cute idea.

OHHH and the ideas we have...........Jeremy tells me not to tell people the ideas we have, I'm not very good at following those rules. But We have lots of ideas that showcase US! Our personalities, our likes, just all around US! I'm so excited to put things together and get this party moving! only 97 days 13 hours 28 minutes and 29 seconds! And then.......the Honeymoon!!
