Moving right along

So with only 5 months.........actually closer to 4 months until the big day (Wedding Day), we are pretty much on our way.  On Friday April 13 myself, my 6 wonderful bridesmaids, my mother and my aunt went to David's Bridal to find bridesmaids dresses. I wont lie. I was concerned. 6 girls, on Friday the 13th, looking for black dresses......what could go wrong! Apparently nothing. (huge shy or relief). We were in an out in an hour. THANK GOODNESS.

I have some awesome bridesmaids who look great in everything, who liked everything and who knew to say ....."Do you like Amy cause that's what matters" Ahh... Thanks gals. That is all but my monster wonderful 10 year old cousin Rebecca. Who once the dressed was picked said over and over "I hate that dress". grrr... I'd like to point out she only liked the other dress because it was and i quote "fun to spin in". Well...........what better reason could you need. So i caved and let her and her twin sister get the fun twirly dresses. Don't tell them....but i think it was the better dress for them anyway.

Rebecca and Jessica in the dress everyone else is getting

The girls in the dress.....only theirs will all be black.....this was before I told Becca she could have the other dress. She's the last one in blue she looks so thrilled pissed.

They next day was my 30th birthday/ bridal shower. Hey what can i say with two of my BM's coming in from out of town for my birthday it just made sense to have the shower while they were here. Taylor made all my decorations, they were so pretty! And Soccermom and Pam helped get everything ready. There were...........

I'm fine never..........

I haven't done a writing assignment in so LONG! But here goes.

I choose the top ten list of things you NEVER want to do before you die.

10. Eat a spider....knowingly. I hate spiders. Yuck. Little ones I can handle, pretty much anything larger than a penny is a no go for me. The worst thing I can imagine is a spider crawling in my mouth and around on my tongue. YUCKY!

9. on the same lines as eating a spider i never want to be bitten by a crocodile. I'm not sure what crazy shenanigans would have to occur for me to EVERY be in the position to be bitten by a crocodile....but I plan to steer clear of anything that leads to that outcome.

8. Being trapped in a mine shaft or falling down a well are far from my idea of a good time. I don't have a super smart dog to bark warnings to my family and friends if I do fall down the well....so I'm pretty much SCREWED if that happens.

7. I'm not a huge fan of kittens. I'm a dog person, even if my dogs would be completely content to sit outside the well and lick themselves while I'm drowning in spider and crocodile water...I'm still a dog person. But even after that being said....i wouldn't want to run over a cat.

6. I enjoy a good old zombie movie as much as the next person. The thrill of the chase, wondering if there's yet another brain eating decomposing neighbor waiting for you around the corner....I love it. However I wouldn't want to be a zombie. See I'm sort of fond of my face, my body and not rotting from the inside out. Trust me i have some bad morning breath, but rot breath. No thanks. Plus there's that whole eating people. It's only a matter of time until you hurt some poor persons feelings because you choose someone else for dinner over them.

5. I never want to run for president. Christ, the skeletons in this closet. I'd embarrass Clinton, and JFK.

4. I hate my job. I know, I know, i should be HAPPY to have a job. I am. But that doesn't mean i have to like it. But even as much as I HATE my job i would never want to be one of those sign holding signing people on the corner advertising some pizza joint or tax service. I don't have the time for that crap. twirl your own sign. Jump up and down in a costume yourself. I'd be on the news in 5 minutes for tossing my cardboard pizza at some passing car.

3. I would never want to teach Bio-Chemistry. I SUCK at science. I sucked in high school. It cost me half of my senior year tennis season. Science is lame.

2.I don't like enclosed small spaces. The thought of being buried alive gives me the hebee geebees. Scratching at the lid of the boxes while someone tosses dirty onto seems....counter productive .

And the number 1 thing I definitely don't want to do before I die is have my own survival reality tv show. Who wants to be dropped off in the middle of the Arctic in your PJ's and socks and see if "you can make it". Who thought that up. I mean really 1 maybe 2% of the population will ever find themselves in that situation anyway. Why. WHY would you want to subject yourself to walking across a desert in your bare feet with no clothes on being burnt to a crisp to show people what to do and not to do if they find themselves in that situation. PASS.

Is this your dress??

I'm a girl. The boobies and girly parts tend to give that away.
I carry a purse. Inside is a mirror, a comb, chapstick, and a coach wallet.
My cell phone case is pink.
Occasionally I wear earrings or a necklace, but always my ring.
I use the bathroom that has a stick figure wearing a dress on it.
I'm a girl. But NOT a girly girl.
I don't wear make-up.
I don't wear dresses or skirts.....I don't even own a skirt.
My hair hasn't changed in 20 years.
I'm NOT a girly girl.

BUT I LOVED wedding dress shopping yesterday! LOVED IT.

Up close of me in Dress #3

Back of the dress...so pretty....but not my dress.

front of the dress.....but not my dress.

Dress #2........NOT my dress.

Dress #1 This was the dress I went WANTING the most! this is NOT my dress.

I went dress shopping planning to end up with dress #1. I loved it on the site, I loved it in the catalouge. It's beutiful in the store. It looked pretty on me. I wasn't the most comfortable. But I still liked it.......untill I tried on Dress #4.....but I can't show you that dress...because Dress #4 will make it's debut on September 8th......at my wedding. When I saw myself in dress #4 I cried. I smiled. I looked at everyone else. They cried. They smiled. And the dress came home with ME!

Progress

So I mentioned that things haven't been overly exciting or happy while we've been planning. Well......I do have to say that now that we picked a date and place things are getting fun again. Yesterday we went and registered for things. First we hit up Kohls, where we registered for some new kitchen things to replace our second hand used up stuff. Added a few towels in the mix and some nice place mats. But let's be honest, while we loved the kitchen stuff (Food Network brand) I couldn't see having someone pay $50 for a chip and dip set. So we also registered at Target.
Target was FUN! Well....once the stupid computer let us enter our information. grr..

I was just dinging away. more kitchen gadgets, storage things, cool wall art and shelves, board games and legos........we had to make it fun. :)

Two weeks till Mom, Missy, Jan and I go to my dress appointment! that makes me VERY excited.

I need a drink

oh my. Wedding planning. hmmmm.......

I thought this was fun?! My married friends seemed to like planning their weddings. Visiting places, tasting cakes, picking colors, themes, dresses, you name it. Maybe I just thought they were having fun. Or MAYBE I'm doing something horribly wrong. Is there a Planning a Wedding for Dummies, book out there?

Picking a date and place seemed to be the hardest. Is it wrong that I had no strong feelings towards any date. 365 days to pick from and I didn't care which day it was? I knew i wanted Fall......Or late Fall.....which turned into early Fall. Ugh.

I figured, let's pick a place and pick our date from what they have open. Why decide on Sept 22nd and then find our dream place that doesn't have that date open.

So we visited a local golf course......TO SMALL. We want a small wedding....but i don't want 10 people to a table stuffed in a corner. To Small. So they were out.

My cousin was married over the summer at a local park. It's affordable, they just renovated the building and it looks great, close and most of my family would remember how to get there. BUT.....no alcohol allowed. No THANKS.

Then there was the holistic healing center. Hmmm... how would that look on the invites? The fiance was unable to check that place out....due to his son not being overly thrilled about us getting married all of the sudden(another reason this hasn't been overly fun). The night prior to this appointment my soon-to-be stepson informed us he didn't plan on coming to the wedding. So my mom went along with me. I liked it. It was close. It was BIG. and it had cool twinkly lights and they had a music system so we could just bring a loaded Ipod and cut the DJ costs.

However, while i liked the healing center, i had my heart set on Ski rountop Mountain Resort. And After waiting 3 weeks for our appointment for resort....she called that day to CANCEL. Now, I wasn't having much fun, my soon-to-be stepson told me he wasn't coming to the wedding, and I just saw a place without my fiance that I thought he might like so when he called to inform me she cancelled our appointment I said don't reschedule. I wanted the healing center. But the fiance went later in the week to look at it and said NO.

He said he was concerned that I was settling on a place because I just wanted to be done with this part. So I agreed to let him make another appointment at Ski roundtop. She fit us in on a Saturday morning. GREAT........SORT OF. Because things are going so smoothly for us.(hahaha) It ended up being the first time it's snowed all winter! the First snow at a Ski Resort.....and I'm going to check out there indoor and OUTDOOR spaces. After waiting on the road to the resort for 20 minutes behind three stuck buses, we finally rolled into our appointment 30 minutes late. Awesome. We must have stuck out like a sore thumb, as we were the only people there not decked out in snow gear. It was hard to look around the lodge as it was packed full of people. but I could see the good and as we stood in the snow outside at the ceremony spot, i thought.... I LOVE THIS! Needless to say we booked it. Sept 8th I'll become Mrs. Miller. :)
